Tradesman - Plumber **Requisition ID** 10220BR **Work Location** Lubbock **Org Level 1** Texas Tech University **Campus** Texas Tech University **Department** University Student Housing **Position Description** Safely performs journeyman level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. **Major/Essential Functions** + Install, repair, and maintain heat, drainage, sewage and other plumbing systems. Knowledge of the mechanical operation of equipment such as pumps, heaters, and other plumbing components. Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of plumbing systems. + Safely use pipe cutters, snake, and other plumbing equipment. + Inspect joints, valves, pumps, heaters, sinks, commodes, tanks, and other plumbing to ensure proper operation and performance. + Perform preventative maintenance work as required. + Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes. + Respond to emergency callbacks nights, weekends, and holidays as required. + Maintain records of materials and labor expended for each project or job assignment. + Assess project material requirements and prepare requisition forms for materials from supply warehouse or vendor. + Operate university vehicles including pickups, trucks, and vans. + Security Level II: This position requires a background check and drug test. **Required Qualifications** Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent.
