Northeast Methodist Hospital has played a major role in the phenomenal economic growth experienced in northeast Bexar County. Located in the city of Live Oak at Interstate 35 and Judson Road, Northeast Methodist Hospital has undergone major renovations to upgrade and expand the facility and services to better meet the needs of this area. The expansion facilitated advanced services in 24-hour emergency, surgical, cardiovascular (three cardiac cath labs with electrophysiology capabilities) units, a spacious intensive care unit and inpatient rehabilitation services. A new orthopedic service has recently been implemented – The Joint Replacement Academy – offering the latest treatment options for knee and hip pain. Northeast Methodist Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission in stroke care and is designated as an accredited Chest Pain Center.

General Statement of Duties:
The Clinical Coordinator of Inpatient Nursing Services assists with department activity to assure a coordinated effort in fulfilling department responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision, and values of MHS. Assists with coordination of the department’s participation in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment. Provides leadership and assists with administration functions for new RNs with particular focus on newly licensed RNs or those who have not previously been in an acute care setting. Is the subject matter expert/resource for this population on the applicable shift. Assists with orienting/evaluating new staff during the Orientation period and beyond. Ensures that Nursing Care is based on the Nursing Process and evaluates the effectiveness on an ongoing basis. Assists with staffing needs.
Essential Job Functions:
  1. Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Validation Checklists.
  2. Meets mutually-agreed upon performance goals that align with facility strategic goals.
  3. Ability to develop mentoring relationship with nursing colleagues who have recently launched from RN residency program.
  4. Provide guidance and support to the bedside RN, primarily nurses who have less than a year experience in the acute care environment, to support development of critical thinking skills.
  5. Assists with tracking and trending rapid response and code blue data.
  6. Participates and/or leads performance improvement applicable to new RN onboarding/orientation
